LET WOKING LEAD IN COMMUNITY RELATIONS

8 Oct 2004

As a Guest Speaker at the Woking Community Relations Forum, Dr Lee spoke to a packed room at the Maybury Centre last night. She said " Woking has a wonderful mixed community of many religions and cultures. Our rich cultural life in Woking is not assisted by Daily Mail-type scare stories about asylum seekers. As the town has the oldest Mosque in the country what happens in Woking matters. There are many good examples of work going on in Woking which encourage all sections of the community to work together with support from groups such as the One World Week to be held later this month".

She called for everyone involved in community relations to work to ensure that Woking becomes a national leader in good community relations.
